Travel LA: Mama Shelter | Day & Night

When we sat down at the beginning of the year, we both realized how much we take living in California for granted.  Not only do we live in an amazing state, our city, Los Angeles, has so many wonderful places and venues to explore.  So we’ve decided to share with you some of our favorite places to eat, explore and enjoy in LA.

We think this spot would be great for an upcoming staycation for Valentine’s weekend, a night out with your girlfriends or even just a place to grab some drinks!

INTRODUCING…

Mama Shelter is a well known hotel company with locations all around the world. There are locations in

BORDEAUX  |  LOS ANGELES  |  LYON  |  MARSEILLE  |  PARIS  |  RIO DE JANEIRO

Parden our clouds.  It’s been a little rainy in LA.

We took our lovely significant others to brunch at Mama Shelter earlier this month. When you walk in you have the bar, hotel lobby and then the restaurant.  They flow together almost becoming intertwined.  The waiters wear crooked aprons, there are chalk paintings on the ceiling and eclectic modern furniture all give it a hip, European vibe!

You know the first thing we all ordered was some type of coffee!  Their coffee presentation was awesome and the coffee itself was delicious.  For brunch, Ashley got the avocado toast and Amy (& Pete) chose the Potato Latke.  Nick went with the chopped salad; which we were super bummed to find out is ONLY available during brunch. We will be back for that salad! That salad dressing was phenomenal.

All 4 of us fell in love with the food and the ambiance!

After getting blowouts at Dry Bar, we headed to grab a quick snack before heading upstairs to Amy’s party.  We made in just in time to order some things off of the Happy Hour menu.

We got Mama’s cottage fries, Avocado Hummus, Burrata & Cherry Tomato, Mama’s meatballs and the the meat & cheese board.   They were all so delicious!

Pete & Ashley also ended up ordering a butternut squash dish and the mussels.

As many of you may know, we’ve been getting a ton of rain here in California.  Thank goodness because we really need it!  Look at this awesome cloud shot from Mama Shelter on a rainy day.  Though Angelenos, if it rains the rooftop isn’t open.  They let us sneak up there to check it out for Amy’s party.

While we didn’t spend the night at Mama Shelter, we can only imagine how amazing the rooms are!  This restaurant and bar are so unique.  You get the feeling of hanging out at an artsy home.  In the restaurant there is chess, checkers, foozeball & a DJ on the weekend.  The rooftop view is absolutely stunning!  We can’t wait to go back and enjoy the rooftop in the summertime.

Happy Traveling,
Ashley & Amy
