How to Vision Board a Successful 2016

“Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life, because you become what you believe”

-Oprah Winfrey

This Oprah quote might sound like a broken record to some of you.  It definitely did for me.

I have been told time and time again that I should plan out what I want to accomplish within the year.  You might call them your New Year’s resolutions or as I like to simply put it, my intentions for 2016.  I did just that this year but I added something new in 2016, and I think its something you should start doing as well.

This year I decided to create a vision board.

Here is what you need to create the perfect vision board.

  1.  Find a ton of magazines.  You want all different types, even magazines you don’t necessarily read.
  2. Scissors to cut out your favorite phrases or images of things you hope to achieve in 2016.  And Glue to put them in place.
  3. Something to put everything on.  I used a piece of Scrapbook paper from Michaels.  It’s thick, sturdy & it’s small enough to place somewhere you will actually see it.

I didn’t want to just put a bunch of pictures of things I want to buy this
year or places I want to travel.  So, I decided to break my vision board down into three separate categories:

  1. My Me Life
  2. My Love Life
  3. My Career

Then I got to cutting.

I cut anything that caught my eye even if it was just something that I might, sort of, kind of, want to do.  I placed all of those things into a big pile.  After that I split them up into my three categories and I sorted through what I ACTUALLY want my future to look like.

This is where you get the time to actually think about what YOU want.  Not what society wants or your boyfriend wants or your friends want.  You can choose anything that you want to accomplish with the next year.  Make it super specific.  The more specific, the clearer your intentions are.

There you have it: all the things you want to focus on over the next year.  Now, all you have to do is glue them to your scrapbook paper and hang it up somewhere you go everyday.  I’m going to put mine  by my makeup area.  I know I will head there everyday, even if its just to throw on some mascara.

Here’s a look at my Vision of 2016 for Me:
