Why we are crushing on Candice Nunes…
I met Candice in Belize a few years ago. We were set to work on a movie together to play best friends. We were roommates and spent time on our days off before shooting exploring the city and just enjoying life.
Candice is the type of person that makes you want to explore, to learn, and to experience something new. She is originally from South Africa and now lives in LA working as an actress. She spends a lot of her time traveling. As a matter of fact, as I am typing this, she is currently in South Africa and heading to Mozambique this weekend. She also takes a trip to Bali almost every year. I would say that she is the type of person that really focuses on her mental health. Which is SO SO SO important. It is important to take time for yourself and to discover new things.
She is obviously one of the most gorgeous human beings alive, inside & out. When you have conversations with her, you can tell she is really trying to connect with you.
Candice is also a phenomenal actress! She is the star of a new movie coming out next year (@terrordacylthefilm).
Look out for more of her upcoming projects on IMDB.
Candice’s Fav Recipe
This is probably the easiest thing to make ever. It’s one container of steamed Lentils from Trader Joes and one jar of Bruschetta from Trader Joes. Mix them together and Boom, you have the best dip ever. It’s health, has lots of antioxidants from the tomatoes as well as fiber from the lentils. I like to eat it with rice crisps or corn chips. It makes for a really nice side dish also. You add feta cheese and/or black olives to fancy it up!

What type of activities do you do to stay fit?
Yoga and Hiking are my two favorites forms of physical activity. I feel like Yoga is not only a physical workout but also a workout for the mind and soul, which are so important to staying mental fit.
I go to the gym at least 3 times a week. I do at least 30 minutes of cardio as well as some other plyometric exercises. I never have a set routine. I just kinda go and make it up as I go. I like to say I play tennis to stay active but speaking honestly, I only play about once a month for fun but that’s hardly tennis, its more like a few good rallies but mostly me running after all of the balls I’ve missed.
I also really enjoy rollerblading! It’s because I grew up in the 90’s but It’s SO much fun and a great workout!
What do you think is the key to a healthy lifestyle?
Enjoying the activities you are doing! Doing them not to have an outcome but because its part of taking care of your body. Finding the ease and joy while in the midst of something difficult is a practice that yoga is great at teaching!
What’s your favorite asset?
Physically, my arms- Yoga is to thank for that! I am only 5’2 but I have curves and thicker thighs. No matter how much I workout- the size of my hips isn’t going to change. It’s part of my genetics and over the last two years I have also come to love that about me.
What is your LEAST favorite workout? But why do you still do it?
Leaste favorite workout are pushups and squatting jumping jacks. I do pushups when I HAVE to, or if I am in a class only because everyone else is doing them. Those jumping squats are just really hard! I only ever do them because I know they really good for your butt and they get your heart rate up at the same time.
If you had to choose any healthy meal or snack what would it be?
Kale- I love kale! All kinds, kale chips, kale salads, kale soup!
We all have cheat days, what’s your poison?
Kettle Corn from Trader Joes and Milk chocolate or any kind. I am a sucker for chocolate!
What inspires you to be healthy and active?
The way I feel after I’ve worked out. The endorphins that surge through my body are intoxicating! When I dont feel like working out I remind myself of how I felt the late time I did and before I know it I’ve got my tennis shoes on and its happening.
What is your best beauty secret?
Exfoliation! Your body regenerates skin cells at such a rapid rate. your skin is also the largest organ of your body. Working it out- but brushing it, or using a good loofa is crucial healthy- in my experience.
If you could give girls any advice about loving their bodies what would you say?
This may sound crazy, but I challenge you to try this… I’ve found that when I eat food that “isn’t good for me”, like sweats, candy or chocolate, but I enjoy that fact that I’m eating it- instead of eating it with the though that I shouldn’t because, I don’t gain weight from it. When I am eating it, I take a moment to be the little girl inside me, and get excited and happy that I’m getting to eat a yummy brownie, or piece of cake. I enjoy every single bite and for a second remind myself that there are people in this world that aren’t fortunate enough to know what this deliciousness tastes like. I enjoy it SO much more and because I’m not in any kind of resistance to it, it doesn’t add any weight. I swear. I’m not saying that if I eat an entire box of cookies, nothing happens- It’s all within reason, but give it a try and see if you don’t enjoy food more!
