The SECRET benefits of Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a great multi-use essential oil to have in your medicine cabinet. I learned about its benefits years ago from a friend of mine.

What is tea tree oil?

Tea tree oil is an essential oil taken from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia, which is found in New South Wales, Australia. It is actually extremely poisonous if taken by mouth and can cause rashes if used on children.

Top 10 benefits of Tea Tree Oil

1. Acne

My favorite use of tea tree oil is when I feel a breakout coming on. I dab a little bit on the spot and the next morning the blemish is gone.

2. Dandruff

I use a shampoo that contains tea tree oil and mint. The tea tree oil is beneficial to your scalp as well as provides moisture so you don’t get dry skin, which can cause dandruff.

3. Ingrown Hair

You can use a dab of tea tree oil on ingrown hairs to help them come to the surface and prevent scarring.

4. Lice

Tea tree oil is a natural way to rid yourself of lice (is this a thing anymore?!).  All you need to do is put a few drops on your head and wrap it in a towel before you go to sleep.  When you wake up, brush through your hair and remove the dead lice.  Be aware, it should only be used on adults.

5. Blisters

You can dab two dots on a clean blister to help with the healing process.  Apply a bandaid after, if needed.

6. Fungal Toenail Infections

If used 2 times daily for 6 months, tea tree oil can clear up this type of fungal infection.

7. Allergies

You can rub a little bit on your chest to help clear congestion and help with allergies.

8.  Bug bites

Rubbing a little bit of oil onto bug bites can help prevent itchiness and reduce swelling.

9. Cuts and Scraps

You can use Tea Tree Oil as an antiseptic.  Apply it to clean wounds to help with the healing process.

10. Wart Remover

If you apply tea tree oil onto the wart morning and night, it will help get rid of that nasty little bugger.

These are just some of the benefits of tea tree oil, but it’s uses are plentiful. Just remember, don’t ingest it and don’t use it on children.  Also before using Tea Tree Oil, please test it on your skin just in case you have a bad reaction.

My favorite brand of Tea Tree Oil is Nature’s Bounty and you can find it on Amazon for under $9.

Wishing you health, wealth & happiness,

Ashley Sutton
