In honor of my recent trip back East, I chose a Boston baking superstar for my WCW. Joanne Chang is the pastry chef and owner of Flour Bakery + Cafe in Boston. Joanne Graduated from Harvard College with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Economics. She left a high powered career as a management consultant for a career in professional cooking. She worked at many acclaimed restaurants in Boston and New York City before moving back to Boston in 2000 to open Flour.
Flour is a bakery and cafe which serves breakfast pastries, breads, cakes, cookies, tarts, salads, soups and sandwiches! Flour has been featured in numerous publications including Gourmet, Food&Wine, Lucky Magazine, Inc. Magazine, Boston Magazine and The New York Times. Flour was also featured on Throwdown with Bobby Flay, where Joanne’s sticky buns beat Bobby’s.
Joanne literally does it all. She goes beyond jus the kitchen. She writes articles and reviews for Fine Cooking magazine. She teaches pastry cooks, She owns a chinese restaurant with her husband, and she is an avid runner! She ran every Boston Marathon from 1991-2006. Who has the time for all that? She really is a superhero.
